Stop working when you take money out of 401k? | Roth Ira

August 30, 2011 ? Consultant ?

I?ve heard so much about how you should use a roth ira if you think you?ll be in a higher tax bracket when you retire. But isn?t that a moot point if you stop working before you withdraw your 401k at retirement age, therefore not triggering any taxes since you have zero income?

If you just quit work before withdrawing your retirement accounts, wouldn?t the 401k be far superior since neither one would be taxed at withdrawl if you just quit work first?
